In 2004, 7 of 9 Sizzle teams qualified for ASA Class A Regional Tournaments and advanced to National tournaments. Sizzle Red 18U, coached by Bob Cannon and Steve Dean, placed 2nd in the Omaha Metro tournament, won the USSSA 18U National Qualifying tournament and advanced to USSSA Nationals in Kansas City. Sizzle Red 16U coached by Ron Ehlinger participated in the AFA National tournament in Blue Springs Missouri. Sizzle Blue 14U coached by Mark Braden and Bob Knudson placed 3rd in the Omaha Metro tournament and placed 3rd at USSSA 16B Nationals in Aurora, Co. Sizzle Gold 14U coached by Doug Clemetson placed 5th in the Omaha Metro Tournament, won the USSSA 16U Nebraska State tournament and participated in the AFA Nationals at Decatur, Illinois. Sizzle Red 14U, coached by Mark Walsh, placed 2nd in the USSSA 14U Nebraska State tournament and advanced to USSSA 14U Nationals in Aurora, Co. Sizzle Blue 12U, coached by Dave Raver won the AFA National Qualifier and advanced to AFA 12U Nationals. Sizzle Blue 10U, coached by Barb & Jessie Peters, placed 2nd in the Omaha Metro tournament and advanced to ASA Regionals.
In 2002, 8 out of 9 Sizzle teams qualified for ASA Class A Regional Tournaments and 5 Sizzle Teams advanced to National Tournaments. Sizzle Blue 18U, coached by Lowel Lutt and Dan Hogan, placed 3rd at ASA Regionals and advanced to the ASA 18U National Tournament. Sizzle Red 18U, coached by Bob Knudson, placed 9th at ASA Regionals. Sizzle Blue 16U, coached by Julia Kolander, placed 3rd in Omaha Metros, 4th at ASA Regionals and participated in the USSSA National Tournament. Sizzle Red 16U, coached by Bob Cannon, placed 2nd in Omaha Metros to qualify for ASA Regionals and placed 13th at AFA Nationals. Sizzle Red 14U, coached by Ron Ehlinger, placed 3rd in Omaha Metros and participated in the AFA National Tournament. Sizzle Blue 12U, coached by Steve Zastrow, placed 2nd in Omaha Metros, qualified for ASA Regionals and AFA Nationals, and placed 13th at the USSSA National Tournament. Sizzle Red 12U, coached by Doug Clemetson, placed 4th in Omaha Metros and advanced to the ASA Regional tournament. Sizzle Blue 10U, coached by Dick Gude, placed 3rd in Omaha Metros and participated in the ASA Regional Tournament.
In 2001, 11 out of 12 MAA select teams qualified for ASA Regional Tournaments. In addition, the Sizzle Red 18U team coached by Dan Hogan and Sizzle Red 14U coached by Bob Cannon qualified for ASA National Tournaments. After placing 2nd at ASA regionals, Sizzle Red 18U went on to place 17th among 128 teams at the ASA National Tourney in Salem, West Virginia. Sizzle Red 14U placed 3rd at ASA Regionals and finished 45th out of 83 teams at the ASA National tourney in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Sizzle Blue 18U coached by Lowell Lutt and Mirage 18U coached by John Ammerman and Dave Flores tied for 9th place at the ASA Regional Tourney. Sizzle Blue 16U finished 5th at ASA Regionals in North Platte and was runner up at the USSSA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS. Sizzle Blue 14U coached by Greg Lovette qualified for ASA Regionals and finished 15th out of 52 teams at the USSSA National Tournament in Kansas City. Ron Ehlinger’s 12U Sizzle Red team won the ASA regional qualifier in Omaha, finished 9th at ASA regionals in Kansas City and finished 25th at the AFA National Tournament. Sizzle Blue 12U, coached by Steve Zastrow finshed 13th at the ASA Regional tournament in Kansas City. Other MAA teams that qualified for ASA regional tournaments included Millard Heat 14U, Tsunami 18U coached by Bob Knudson and the MAA 14U All-Stars coached by Bob Parker (Class B).
In 2000, the Sizzle Red 18-U team coached by Dan Hogan and Tom Mohon qualified for ASA, AFA and USSSA World Tournaments, winning both the AFA and USSSA National Qualifiers in Omaha. Dave Flores and John Ammermans Mirage 18-U team qualified for both the USSSA and the IFA World Tournaments, finishing 13th and 5th respectively. Sizzle Blue 16-U coached by Lowell Lutt, won the ASA National Qualifier in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to qualify for ASA Nationals and also qualified for AFA Nationals finishing a very respectable 27th out of 104 teams. Bob Knudson’s Tsunami 16U team placed 2nd at the Omaha Metro Regional Qualifier and went on to finish 17th at the Regional tournament in Topeka, Kansas. The Sizzle Blue 14U team, coached by Pat O’Doherty placed 5th at ASA Class A Regionals in North Platte. Sizzle Blue 12-U coached by Greg Lovette won both the USSSA and the AFA National Qualifiers in Omaha. Since both tournaments were in the same week, Sizzle Blue opted to go to the USSSA World Tournament in Canton Michigan; going 9-3 and capturing 3rd place. The Sizzle Blue 10U team, coached by Steve Zastrow, won the ASA ‘B’ Regional tournament and went on to place 13th at the ASA National tournament in Springfield, Missouri.
In 1999, the Sizzle 18-U team coached by Ken McEwen was crowned 18-U “A” Regional Champion for the second consecutive year and went on to participate in the National tournament. The Sizzle Red 16-U team coached by Tom Wilkinson and the Sizzle Blue 16-U team coached by Lowell Lutt tied for 7th place in the Mid-America 16-U “A” Regionals, while the 16-U Mirage team coached by Dave Flores and John Ammerman placed 13th at the 16-U “A” Regionals. The 16-U Tsunami Team coached by Bob Knudson placed 2nd in the Metro 16-U “B” Regional Qualifier. The Sizzle Blue 14-U team coached by Pat O’Doherty placed 13th at the 14-U “A” Regionals. In the 12-U age group, the Sizzle Red team coached by Barb Fye and the Tsunami Team coached by Rick Denherder placed 17th at the 12-U “A” Regionals. The 12-U MAA Red team (made up of All-Stars from the Recreational League) placed 3rd at the Metro 12-U “B” Qualifier and went on to place 13th at the “B” Regionals. Our 10-U Sizzle Red team, coached by Steve Zastrow, placed 7th at the 10-U “B” Regionals in Sioux City.
In 1998, three Sizzle teams went to Amateur Softball Association (ASA) National tournaments; the 18-U team coached by Ken McEwen, the 14-U team coached by Lowell Lutt and the 12-U team coached by Steve Condra. Six teams total qualified for Regionals, and two of those teams were crowned as Regional Champs, the Sizzle 10-U team coached by Greg Lovette and the Sizzle 18-U team coached by Ken McEwen.
